Success Story of Mr Alok Gupta

Alok Gupta joined the Group in 1999 after completing a degree in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University. Alok spent his initial years focusing on the trading side of the operations for the steel and chemical businesses. During his stint in trading operations Alok significantly increased procurement and supply chain efficiencies. He increased the trading portfolio to include products such as wood, hardboard, paper and packaging.

Alok today spearheads all the manufacturing efforts of African Industries. Given his technical expertise, he took responsibility for implementing the group’s manufacturing strategy. He coordinated the project teams that set up the group’s first steel plant in 2004. Alok’s hands-on experience has been key to driving the additional steel capacity investments in African Foundries and Abuja Steel Mills. Under Alok’s supervision, the group’s manufacturing capacity for steel has increased six fold in less than 10 years.
